You must be 17 to learn to drive and have a valid provisional license. If you need a license complete a D1 form from the Post Office and send it to the DVLA with your passport or birth certificate and a passport-sized photo.

Driving Standards Agency researchers suggest the average is 45 hours of tuition with 22 hours practice privately to pass. We can give you an idea of how long you are likely to need after your first lesson. You can help by taking two-hour lessons and keeping up with private practice when possible.
